Back in October, Comedy Central announced its plans to transform The Goddamn Comedy Jam live show in L.A. into a television series. And now, less than six months later, we have a premiere date of March 22 and an Episode 1 guest list including @midnight host Chris Hardwick, Bon Jovi’s Richie Sambora and more.
Music and comedy fans everywhere are about to be treated to a fusion feast of the senses as the debut episode of The Comedy Jam promises to start things off with an auditory bang led by Hardwick and Sambora, who will be on-hand to perform a one-of-a-kind rendition of the Bon Jovi classic “Wanted Dead or Alive.” Also tapped to entertain, are Tiffany Haddish (The Carmichael Show, The High Court), slated to perform Tina Turner’s “Proud Mary” and Bobby Lee, taking on “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy” by Rod Stewart.
Throughout the course of the eight-episode season, which features celebrities sharing cherished memories of popular songs and then performing them in front of a live audience, viewers will be treated to a host of acting, comedy and musical talents in a mashup setting, ripe for entertainment.
Among the guests to appear are Malin Akerman, Roy Wood Jr., Busy Philipps, Tia Carrere, Big Jay Oakerson, Jim Breuer, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and more. Mark Duplass and Kevin Cronin will perform REO’s “Can’t Fight This Feeling” on the April 12 episode while Jay Pharoah and DMX will pair up for a rendition of the latter’s “Party Up” on April 26.
The Comedy Jam was created by Josh Adam Meyers and filmed at the Fonda Theatre in Hollywood. The series is produced by Ugly Brother Studios and Tenth Planet and is exec-produced by Meyers, Mike Duffy, Tim Duffy and Joel Gallen, the lattermost who directed all eight episodes.
Tune in to Episode 1 of The Comedy Jam, debuting March 22 at 10 p.m. ET/PT, and drop by Comedy Central’s official website for more information.
