Michael Ian Black appeared on The Late Show earlier this week, gracing fans with his comic presence while wearing a slim dark on dark suit and mustache, both of which, needless to say, demanded a little attention from host Stephen Colbert. Unsurprisingly, it didn’t take long for the pair’s conversation to turn to the topic of Donald Trump’s presidency, something Black tries to explain through a little story involving a sandwich experience he had two years ago at Subway. Watch the entire bit in the above clip.
It’s slightly past the two-minute mark when Black launches into his Subway anecdote, aiming to explain how we ended up with a “President Trump.” The bit, in which Black hilariously details his otherwise mundane sandwich buying experience, comes to a fitting end with his explaining what went wrong with his six-inch sub and thus relating it to the results of the recent U.S. election.
Black last appeared on The Late Show back in June of 2016 to show off his new book A Child’s First Book of Trump. The comedian and author proceeded to give audiences a tiny taste of his new work, which details exactly what children should do if they encounter a so-called “beasty” in the wild.
Black more recently set out on his Twitter-inspired “Shut Up and Comedy Tour” where he performed in a handful of cities around the U.S. We were lucky to catch his hysterical stand-up performance at Chicago’s Thalia Hall last month (check out our review here).
Catch Black appearing live at this year’s SXSW in March, Chris Hardwick’s ID10T Music Festival + Comic Conival in June and on Wet Hot American Summer: 10 Years Later coming to Netflix later this year.
