On her debut comedy album, Disassociation Vacation, which was released on April 26 via Burn This Records, Kristin Lytie introduces herself with a sentence never before said on stage or anywhere really.
“I’ve been a union organizer for 15 years, and, in 2018, I decided to move home to Green Bay, Wisconsin to get sober and build union power,” said Lytie.
Much of Disassociation Vacation goes on to explore the hilarity that comes from being a sober union organizer living in a place associated with consuming copious amounts of beer and cheese. Whether its dating while sober or the experience of buying a house in Green Bay after spending several years living in Chicago, Lytie finds laughter in every aspect of her life.
Lytie also shares her love of spooky stuff – including her vision for a truly scary haunted house – and reminisces about the good old days when conspiracy theories were fun and mostly harmless. Elsewhere on the album, she jokes about being “pre-elderly” and shares the horrifyingly hilarious way she learned that she was afraid of going under anesthesia.
Disassociation Vacation was recorded live at Altercation Comedy Festival in Austin, TX. At the top of the show, Lytie thanks organizers for hosting the set as the festival “feels like family.” Throughout the album, she proceeds to make fans, in the audience and those listening to the recording, feel at home, fostering an environment where the laughs flow easily.
