Today’s the day! Daniel Van Kirk has released his sophomore full-length comedy album, Rose Gold, available everywhere now via Blonde Medicine.
Rose Gold, which is the audio accompaniment to Van Kirk’s comedy special of the same name, finds him joking about when old people should be treated kindly (or not), wishing we could high-five strangers again, and lamenting the assumptions that get made about his appearance. Having grown-up in Rochelle, IL, Chicago, and, to a certain extent, Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville Resort, Van Kirk’s Midwest charm seasons the entire listening experience.
“We live in a time of generational divides and hell, the people who are running our country are extremely old. But a section of this hour is about how old people still have to live in this current time and for me, Rosemary is a shining example of that,” Van Kirk said of naming the album in honor of his grandmother, Rosemary, who is 94 years old.
