Throughout his hilarious debut comedy special, Live at the Bomb Shelter, which was released via Comedy Dynamics on June 11, NYC-based comedian Jeff Cerulli answers a lot of questions. From solving dad mysteries to pondering how the comments section under music videos became the best place on the internet, the entire show is full of relatable musings that inspire laughter.
Choosing the location for the show was a bit of a no-brainer as Cerulli has run The Bomb Shelter – a weekly comedy show in the basement of the Gaf West – since 2016. “I have run so many random shows at different places in the city that most of the bars are now either a 7/11 or a Citibank,” he said in a statement adding that stand-up comedy is a completely unique art form. “There isn’t anything else like it, going up and telling jokes without a net. It is the only art form you must practice in front of strangers to get better.”
Cerulli opens the special comparing the venue to CBGB in the 1980s.“It’s always been my dream to do a comedy special. Ever since I was a little boy, I wanted to do a comedy special and I wanted to do it in the small basement of a loud bar,” he said to the loud laughter of the audience. “I always pictured this exact setting. There’s a hot pipe you shouldn’t touch. Maybe there’s some rats. You don’t know what’s going to happen.”
What did happen was almost an hour of non-stop jokes. Everything from being a dog parent to getting engaged after 10 years to the power of the true crime craze was analyzed to hysterical results.
As of June 11, Live at the Bomb Shelter is available everywhere comedy can be streamed. Click here for more information about the show and head over to Jeffcerulli.com to keep up with the comedian.
