Actor, comedian, writer, and producer John Early has announced that his debut comedy album, Now More Than Ever, is set to be released on Sept. 13 via Lookin’ For My Denim Records / Thirty Tigers. The album finds early and his band – The Lemon Squares – expanding upon his hilarious HBO comedy special. Early’s alter ego, Vicky with a “V,” also appears in an exclusive, album-only set.
In celebration of this forthcoming release, Early has also announced a new North American tour that will kick-off in San Diego on Sept. 9 before making stops in Seattle, Portland, Los Angeles, and other great cities. There is a Chicago performance set to take place at Thalia Hall on Oct. 5 and the tour will conclude in Durham, NC on Oct. 21.
Tickets are currently available for the artist and venue presales and the general public on-sale will begin this Friday, Jun 14 at 10 a.m. local time.
“I’ve been performing comedy and music with my long suffering band The Lemon Squares for over 10 years now, and I always assumed that there was no way to capture the magic of our live shows,” explained Early in a statement. “But listening to this album takes me right back to that sweaty night in downtown Brooklyn, which felt something like being a crazed preacher at a tent revival. I’m so excited for people to hear the Vicky with a ‘V’ set that we had to cut from the HBO special for time. And I am so, so pumped about our new cover songs which I think are genuinely good and stanky. I would also like to put it on permanent record that I did the Madonna rap in one take.”
