In her debut special, Don’t Mess with a Redhead, musical comedian Sarah Hester Ross takes the stage to the sounds of a wailing guitar. She then picks-up her keytar, takes a power stance, and “gets all the redhead jokes out of the way” with a power ballad – of the same name as the special – that shows off her vocal chops as much as her comedic prowess.
The show unfolds in a comedic and musical whirlwind that has fans in the audience – as well as those watching at home – tapping their toes as they’re laughing along with the infectious melodies. On the aptly titled “TikTok Famous,” Hester Ross navigates the ups and downs of being well known on the popular app while “Florida Man Showtime” gives her a chance to appreciate the types of stories that can only come from the Sunshine State.
Along with being hysterically funny, Hester Ross’ comedy also addresses serious topics with her unique spin.
“A spoonful of music helps the discussion of women’s rights (or lack thereof) go down. The music is niche but the topics aren’t and I feel that’s what makes it special,” she said in a statement.
Hester Ross was raised in Tampa, FL and is currently based in Las Vegas, NV where Don’t Mess with a Redhead was meticulously honed during a three-month Vegas residency – followed by a tour. With big showmanship, catchy tunes, and laughs on top of laughs, it’s no surprise that Hester Ross has become such a big hit in Sin City and beyond.
