If there is a single unifier of people, it’s music and rockers 311 are doing just that – unifying people of all generations across the country through their summer Unity Tour.
The tour’s second stop took place Sunday, July 21, at The Fairgrounds of The Salt Shed in Chicago. Openers for 311 included Neon Trees and AWOLNATION.
The band, who originated in Omaha, Nebraska, recently celebrated 34 years together. Their longtime lineup includes Nick Hexum, Aaron “P-Nut” Wills, Chad Sexton, Tim Mahoney and Doug “SA” Martinez.
The energetic set started with “Beautiful Disaster” from their “Transistor” album, before diving into performances of longtime favorites “Come Original,” “All Mixed Up,” and “Amber” as well as their first No. 1 Modern Rock hit “Down.” The band also played their latest release, “You’re Gonna Get It,” – their first new single since 2019.
The tour, which kicked off July 20 in Cincinnati, next heads to Indianapolis July 23 before wrapping up August 31 in Redmond, Washington.
