The Riot Fest fun continued on Sept. 21, with a jam-packed lineup that included sets from Spoon, St. Vincent, and, the evening’s headliner, Beck. Legendary acts like Buzzcocks, Descendents, and Pavement, also performed, as did NOFX, who are closing out the aptly-named NOFX World Stage each and every night of the three-day event.

The Hives delivered a high-energy set that built upon their Riot Fest legacy. Vocalist Howlin’ Pelle Almqvist reminded the crowd that this show marked The Swedish rockers’ triumphant return to the fest for the first time since they played back in 2016.

“I’m not feeling bad about the situation now,” he said, adding, “It’s just developing and snowballing into love and affection between you guys and us. Can you feel it? Alright it’s not a bad situation like I said. We’re making a little noise in Illinois and there’s a lot of bands here that we don’t hate.”

One of the many highlights of Day 2 of Riot Fest came from Chicago’s own Sincere Engineer who shared songs from their latest album, Cheap Grills, and much more. Anyone who was lucky enough to catch the band back at Riot Fest 2022 will remember the iconic corn dog circle pit. Somehow, Deanna Belos and company managed to top themselves, this time around, during their late-afternoon Rise Stage set.

Princess Goes – featuring Six Feet Under actor Michael C. Hall – the supergroup L.S. Dunes, and Riot Fest favorites Taking Back Sunday were also among the most memorable artists who performed on Saturday.
