It was just announced that comedian Michelle Wolf will make her stand-up special debut on HBO this summer. The special, which will be released sometime this summer, will be directed by fellow comedian and Chappelle’s Show co-creator Neal Brennan.
“Michelle is one of the most inspired comics working today,” said Nina Rosenstein, executive vice president of HBO Programming. “She is smart, sharp and fiercely funny. We couldn’t be more excited to present her first stand-up special to our audience.”
Wolf is probably best know for her contributions to The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, she works as a writer as well as on-air commentator. She previously worked as a writer and guest comic on Late Night with Seth Meyers and she wrote for the 2016 Academy Awards hosted by Chris Rock. Some of her other credits include appearances on @midnight, Night Train with Wyatt Cenac and Louis C.K.’s Horace and Pete.
Wolf’s forthcoming HBO special will be taped on Saturday, Aug. 12 at Skirball Center in New York. “What can I say, it’s HBO, it’s a dream,” said Wolf. “I’m mostly just trying not to get hit by a bus before I tape.” The special is written by Wolf and will be executive produced by herself along with John Irwin, Daniel Bodansky and James Dixon.
Wolf joins comedians Chris Gethard, who will debut his special Career Suicide on May 6 on HBO, and T.J. Miller, whose stand-up special Meticulous Ridiculous hits the network June 17.
