Anybody who’s gone to Bonnaroo a few times has probably made an impromptu stop in The Cinema Tent at some point, whether to grab some shade, soak up the air conditioning or sit back and watch a movie in the dark with a couple hundred other festival-goers. This year, you may want to pencil in your Cinema Tent trip as there are a few people of interest stopping by including Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite), Adam Scott (Parks and Recreation, Party Down) and Scott Aukerman (Comedy Bang! Bang!).
Scott and Aukerman will be on-hand to discuss the music and impact of the band U2. Coming together as the superfan Adam Scott Aukerman, the duo will do a live taping of their Earwolf podcast U Talkin’ U2 To Me, where they will discuss all things U2. Catch the pair as they share memories and insights about the band and its mates — Bonobos, Thedge, Adam Claytwothousandpounds, Larry Mullen Sr.’s Son and of course New York City — and listen as they dive deep into the group’s catalogue of music. And who knows. With U2 headlining the festival this year, maybe… just maybe… there will be some special guests.
Heder will be at Bonnaroo’s Cinema Tent this year to celebrate everybody’s favorite cult comedy Napoleon Dynamite. The actor and producer, who played Napoleon in Jared Hess’ 2004 smash hit, will be live in person for a screening of movie so pick up a dang quesadilla and come vote for Pedro.
Also on The Farm this year is Lance Crouther from Louis C.K.’s 2001 comedy film Pootie Tang. Crouther will be at The Cinema Tent to introduce a screening of the film (in character), prior to returning for a Q&A as himself. Richard Kelly will be bringing the darker fare to this year’s Bonnaroo with a 16th anniversary celebration of his film Donnie Darko.
Among the other notables taking place in The Cinema Tent this year are “30th Anniversary Movie Parties” for The Princess Bride and Spaceballs, the NBA Finals Game 4 and the annual “Trapped In The Closet Sing-Along.”
The 2017 Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, featuring headliners Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Weeknd, Chance The Rapper and the aforementioned U2, goes down in Manchester, TN on June 8-11. Visit the fest’s official website for more information and to pick up tickets.
