Ari Shaffir to premiere two comedy specials on Netflix in July

Ari Shaffir announced on Twitter today that he will be releasing two specials next month on Netflix. The comedian’s pair of hour-longs, aptly titled Double Negative, premiere July 18 on the streaming service.

The first of Shaffir’s two-part release is named Double Negative: Children and will focus on kids and, more directly, breeding — of which the comedian makes clear he is not a fan. The second of the two specials goes under the moniker Double Negative: Adulthood and examines the “life you necessarily cannot have if you get married and have kids.”

Shaffir is the latest comedian to announce his special’s premiere date on Netflix. His ambitious double dose of comedy debuting on the VOD service follows previous 2017 releases including Dave Chappelle’s hilarious pair of specials Deep in the Heart of Texas and The Age of Spin, Norm MacDonald’s Hitler’s Dog, Gossip & Trickery (one of the funniest of the year), Tracy Morgan’s raw and revealing Staying Alive and, most recently, Sarah Silverman’s funny and philosophical A Speck of Dust.

Double Negative: Children and Adulthood, taped in November of 2016 at Cap City Comedy Club in Austin, will ultimately etch in stone the comedian and former This Is Not Happening host‘s last couple years of work. Though the moment is oftentimes bittersweet, Shaffir sounds entirely excited to be joining the Netflix ranks, where he will share his work with fans both in America and around the globe.
