Maz Jobrani has just set a premiere date for his new special, Immigrant. The hour-long will officially drop on Netflix on August 1, marking the comedian’s first for the streaming service.
Jobrani’s new special was filmed on April 15 at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. According to Deadline, it will see the Iranian-American comic, who moved to the U.S. at the age of six after having fled the Iranian Revolution in the late 1970s, discussing life as an immigrant in America under President Trump. Viewers can expect sufficient political humor and observations on modern day parenting, as well.
Jobrani, who recently appeared on an episode of Problematic with Moshe Kasher to discuss the topic of Islamophobia, can be seen starring alongside Jermaine Fowler, Katey Sagal, David Koechner Anna Baryshnikov and Judd Hirsch in the new CBS comedy series Superior Donuts (based on the play by Tracy Letts), which returns for Season 2 in October.
Jobrani’s forthcoming hour-long Immigrant, which was produced by Ray Moheet and Norman Aladjem, is the followup to the comedian’s previous special I’m Not a Terrorist, But I’ve Played One On TV, which — inspired by his book of the same name — debuted on Showtime in August of 2015.
