Once again, Lollapalooza has recruited hundreds of the most talented musicians in the world to perform at its four-day event. While it is exciting to see festival favorites like Arcade Fire, Lorde, The Killers, Alt-J, Cage the Elephant and so many more return to Chicago in 2017, there is truly something special about seeing a band perform at the Grant Park festival for the very first time. Here’s a look at a few great bands that are making their Lollapalooza debut in 2017!
Blink-182
Lollapalooza is going punk in 2017 by inviting one of the biggest bands of the genre, Blink-182, to close-out the Bud Light Stage on Friday, Aug. 4. Tom DeLonge parted ways with Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker back in 2015, but Chicago’s own Matt Skiba – of Alkaline Trio fame – has been doing a fantastic job filling in on guitar. Don’t miss Blink’s Lollapalooza debut on Friday night.
Joseph
Gorgeous harmonies and folk-inspired melodies have helped Joseph to amass a legion of fans since their formation in 2014. Awe-inspiring performances on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Ellen and Conan only further generated buzz for this talented sister act. Check them out on the fourth and final day of Lollapalooza when they will be performing an early-afternoon set on the Tito’s Handmade Vodka Stage.
Whitney
Hometown heroes, Whitney, only released their debut album, Light Upon the Lake, last summer and they have already delivered star-making sets at Pitchfork, Coachella and Bonnaroo. They will be performing in Grant Park for the first time on Friday Aug. 4 when they take the Pepsi Stage at 7:45 p.m. Don’t miss it!
Noname
Noname is another Chicago artist rising to national stardom thanks to her poetic verses, throwback rhythms and passionate live performances. Oh yeah, and she has been known to collaborate with Chance the Rapper, so keep an eye out for him as well during her Sunday afternoon set on the Pepsi Stage.
Liam Gallagher
Between Beady Eye, Oasis and his solo projects, it’s hard to believe that Liam Gallagher has never performed at Lollapalooza in Chicago. The dynamic frontman will be remedying his record when he takes the Grant Park Stage at 4:30 p.m. on the opening night of the fest. Now, if we can just work on Noel Gallagher for 2018, maybe Lollapalooza can inspire the brothers to get Oasis back together once and for all.
Lollapalooza takes place in Chicago’s Grant Park on Aug. 3 – 6. Head over to www.Lollapalooza.com for more information about the festivities.
