It has just been announced that Dave Chappelle will be returning to Radio City Music Hall this August for a series of 10 shows. His residency will include a handful of very special guests including Chris Rock, Ali Wong and more.
Chappelle’s Radio City Music Hall residency is shaping up to be quite the event. Having just crashed Rock’s show in New Orleans back in March, Chappelle will now return the favor by welcoming his fellow comedian and friend to the legendary New York venue on Aug. 5. Ticket-holders can only hope for a similar experience as Rock’s Total Blackout show at the Saenger Theatre, which featured solo sets as well as an hour of jokes from the duo, who shared the stage together to talk divorce, rape and Donald Trump.
Chappelle, who appears to be surprising audiences everywhere these days, also dropped in for a guest appearance as Wong’s opener during her sold-out six-show RIOT LA Comedy Festival run at The Theater at the Ace Hotel in Los Angeles back in January. Her appearance at Radio City Music Hall on Aug. 24 will mark the final show of Chappelle’s East Coast residency.
Daily Show host Trevor Noah will also appear as a guest during Chappelle’s residency, as will a few musical acts including Erykah Badu, The Roots and Childish Gambino. Chappelle is currently keeping audiences in suspense with regard to his still yet-to-be-announced “very special guest” slated for Aug. 15.
Chappelle is amidst a massive comeback, which kicked off back in March with the release of two (of his three) stand-up comedy specials streaming exclusively on Netflix. The Chappelle’s Show creator more recently made headlines upon dropping in on John Mayer for a heartfelt tribute to fellow collaborator Charlie Murphy, who passed away after a battle with leukemia, and for donating $50,000 to children affected by the Flint, MI water crisis.
