On Aug. 13, 1996, Reel Big Fish dropped their seminal ska punk album, Turn the Radio Off, much to the delight of pop punk fans across the globe. Now, in honor of the album’s 20th anniversary, the group is celebrating the release with a 24-city U.S. tour this fall.
“In honor of the 20th anniversary of the release of our classic album Turn the Radio Off, we will be performing the whole album from beginning to end at all the shows on our fall tour,” Reel Big Fish announced with a statement on their website. “We’ll also be playing lots of other RBF classics and fan favorites for those weirdos out there who don’t really like this album!!”
The Turn the Radio Off Anniversary Tour kicks-off on Oct. 24 at The Rock in Tucson, AZ. Albuquerque, Colorado Springs, Omaha and other great cities will also be treated to special performances before Reel Big Fish wraps things up at Void Fest in Jacksonville, FL on Nov. 19. More dates are expected to be announced. Front man Aaron Barrett – who co-founded the band back in the early 1990s – is featured in the current lineup, along with John Christianson (trumpet), Derek Gibbs (bass), Matt Appleton (saxophone), Billy Kottage (trombone) and Edward Larsen (drums).
This summer, Reel Big Fish was featured on the Vans Warped Tour lineup, performing fun-filled sets packed with their biggest hits including “Everyone Else Is an Asshole,” “Sell Out” and “Take on Me.” Less Than Jake, Good Charlotte, Set It Off, Tonight Alive and other punk rock royalty were also featured on the lineup for Warped Tour 2016.
