It looks as though Morrissey’s final four 2016 tour dates will take place (see rescheduled dates below). Per Pitchfork, ticketed fans in Detroit, Houston, Cleveland and Chicago, while slightly inconvenienced, will still get the chance to see their favorite animal rights activist and frontman take the stage despite the health scare earlier this month.
Manzur’s backstage collapse, prior to the sold-out show in Boulder, CO, prompted Moz to cancel that performance, as well as his following three shows in Texas (one of which — Houston — is now back on). “We don’t know what’s happened to him. This is a family, we stay together,” Morrissey told the Boulder crowd. “We can’t move until we know what’s happened to him. This is why things are ticking backwards and all we can do is wait.” Check out the below video posted to Instagram to see Moz address the Colorado crowd.
Morrissey took to his fan-run blog True to You last week to give an update on Manzur’s health and to pledge his commitment to his midwest fanbase.
“Gustavo Manzur collapsed and was hospitalized two hours before the band were due on stage at Boulder in Colorado. Morrissey made an on stage announcement and the sell-out crowd were greatly understanding and supportive. Gustavo is recuperating today. Doctors have advised one week of rest. Gustavo and the band are determined to make the shows at Detroit, Cleveland and Chicago.”
In other Morrissey news, the “Suedehead” singer recently wrote a letter to General Motors, in which he asked CEO Mary T Barra to consider vegan leather for the interiors of the company’s eco-friendly offerings, the Chevy Bolt and Volt.
