Anjelah Johnson is soon to return to small screens everywhere with her new stand-up comedy special Mahalo & Goodnight. The hour-long is expected to premiere on premium cable and satellite TV network EPIX on Sept. 29.
News of Johnson’s Mahalo & Goodnight premiere date comes courtesy of an article in Elle, in which the outlet states the comedian’s special will see her doing a “deep dive into her Mexican roots and her husband’s Christian rap music.”
Mahalo & Goodnight was taped back on Feb. 3 at The Hawaii Theatre Center in downtown Honolulu, HI. Johnson subsequently announced the special’s new home on EPIX in a tweet during the days that followed.
Johnson’s new forthcoming special follows her previous hour-long, Not Fancy, which debuted on Netflix in October of 2015. Johnson’s previous specials include 2013’s The Homecoming Show and 2010’s That’s How We Do It.
Johnson, a devout Christian and a former cheerleader for the Oakland Raiders, previously made appearances on popular series’ including Ugly Betty and Curb Your Enthusiasm. She is also a veteran of Mad TV, where she created the ever-popular rude fast food worker Bon Qui Qui.
Mahalo & Goodnight, directed by Ryan Polito (Tracy Morgan: Stayin Alive), is the latest comedy special to drop on EPIX, following the May release of Nick Offerman & Megan Mullally’s Summer of 69: No Apostrophe.
