Chicago-area music festival junkies get ready. Riot Fest is just over a month away and, thus, organizers have just unveiled the daily schedule for this year’s event, taking place at Douglas Park on Sept. 15-17 with headliners Nine Inch Nails, Queens of the Stone Age and Jawbreaker.
As with previous years, Riot Fest 2017 has plenty to offer attendees. That said, a quick glance at this year’s schedule and festival-goers are sure to see the more than a few overlapping set times that will undoubtedly provoke their fair share of tough decisions.
Friday will force attendees to choose between N.I.N. and A Day To Remember, while Saturday will surely present conflicts for fans of Gogol Bordello and Beastie Boys’ Mike D (on-hand to perform a DJ set). New Found Glory’s set on the Rise Stage later that night sees overlap with At The Drive In (scheduled on the Roots Stage), who overlaps with Wu-Tang Clan (on the Radicals Stage). Riot Festies will also have to decide between Taking Back Sunday and QOTSA.
Sunday will arguably present ticket-holders with the most complications of the weekend due to overlap by a number of solid acts including Pennywise and TV on the Radio. There are direct conflicts between Dinosaur Jr. and Best Coast as well as Prophets of Rage and M.I.A., all four of which also threaten to pull eyes and ears away from bloody festival staple GWAR. Paramore and Andrew W.K. leave slight wiggle room for fans, though both bite into Jawbreaker’s festival-closing reunion set.
