The Cinder Block Comedy Festival is back for another year. The 2017 event, taking place in Brooklyn, NY on Sept. 7-10, boasts an eclectic lineup of comedians topped by veteran stand-up comic and multi-talented actress Janeane Garofalo.
Garofalo released her latest comedy special If I May on Seeso in late 2016. She more recently appeared in Michael Bolton’s Big, Sexy Valentine’s Day Special and Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later on Netflix and performed at Austin’s SXSW Festival earlier this year.
As with previous years, Cinder Block Comedy Festival 2017 will be held in venues throughout Brooklyn’s Williamsburg and Bushwick neighborhoods. This year’s event will be even bigger, however, with the fest offering 80 shows across 18 venues.
Other headliners joining Garofalo on this year’s Cinder Block Comedy Festival bill are actor and comedian Jeffrey Joseph, Emmy winner Judy Gold and Last Comic Standing finalist Nikki Carr. Aida Rodriguez, Shalewa Sharpe, Jo Firestone, Carole Montgomery and Amy Miller are among the featured performers slated for this year’s event.
2017’s Cinder Block Comedy Fest kicks off on Thursday, Sept. 7 with The Educated Guess Science Fair, hosted by the aforementioned Firestone and Steven DeSienna, at Rough Trade in Williamsburg. Among the other notable shows at this year’s fest are the What a Joke! Showcase (Sept. 9 at The Gutter), Speakout Laughout (Sept. 10 at Cantina Royal), Sketch Screening (Sept. 8 at Cantina Royal) and The Gold Comedy Showcase (Sept. 9 at Artichoke).
