If you are a fan of alternative rock, it doesn’t get much better than this. Pixies and Weezer have decided to join forces for the tour to end all tours as this summer both bands are set to co-headline a seven-week North American tour, presented by Live Nation.
The tour will kick-off on June 23 at MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Amphitheatre in Tampa before moving through Dallas, Toronto, Chicago – July 7 at the Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre in Tinley Park – and other great cities. Pixies and Weezer will conclude with a performance at the AK-Chin Pavilion in Phoenix, AZ on Aug. 12.
“We’re all big Weezer fans,” said Pixies’ Black Francis in a statement. “So we’re really looking forward to this summer. We have a lot of respect for Weezer, they’re not afraid to take risks with their music.”
Tickets for the Pixies/Weezer tour go on sale to the general public beginning Friday, Nov. 10 at 10 a.m. local time. The Wombats have signed on as the opening act for the June 12 – July 15 dates and support for the tour’s remaining performances will be announced in the not-so-distant future.
