Later this month, comedian Ali Siddiq will premiere his very first hour-long special on Comedy Central. Ali Siddiq: It’s Bigger Than These Bars will make its debut Friday, Feb. 23 at 11:00 p.m. ET/PT.
Siddiq began his comedy career in a Texas state prison, where he was sentenced to fifteen years for drug trafficking. His new special sees him returning to the block to perform stand-up and conduct interviews with inmates and administrators at the Bell County Jail in Belton, TX.
In It’s Bigger Than These Bars, Saddiq recounts his prison experiences and his days as a free man, while also incorporating a handful of conversations with current inmates, to give viewers a glimpse into life on the inside. Sports injuries and prison nudity are among the many other topics covered by the convict-turned-comedian in his debut special.
Siddiq has appeared on Gotham Comedy Live, HBO’s Def Comedy Jam and Comedy Central‘s This Is Not Happening. He released his first half-hour special on Comedy Central in 2016 and he will be appearing at the 2018 Moontower Comedy Festival in April.
