If you love physical media in all its forms you are going to want to head over to Plumbers Hall (1340 W. Washington, Chicago) on Saturday, April 14 for the 16th Annual CHIRP Record Fair & Other Delights. This year’s event features over 100 tables of vinyl as well as a large selection of CDS, cassettes and more.
A sweet sixteen celebration is always special, but the 2018 fair is especially noteworthy as it marks the first CHIRP Record Fair since the station hit the terrestrial airwaves with its diverse musical selection often featuring local artists. Along with shopping, attendees will also enjoy live performances from avery r young, James Swanberg (The Lemons, TodaysHits), Graham Nelson, Bob Gerics and more. Miss Alex White, Show You Suck, Josh Brown and more will be performing DJ sets, as well.
Metro will be on hand hosting a pop-up box office while food, coffee and beer will be available from local businesses. A fundraising raffle for CHIRP Radio (107.1 FM on the North Side of Chicago) offers the opportunity for CHIRP Fair attendees to win prizes from a variety of local favorites including Adler Planetarium, the Botanic Garden, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Ann Sather and The Old Chicago Inn among others.
General admission tickets to the 16th Annual CHIRP Record Fair are currently on sale for $8 and an early admission option (8-10 a.m.) is available for $25. The first 500 people will receive a free tote bag featuring a free download of the 2018 CHIRP Record Fair Local Label Sampler, so arrive early if you can.
