2018 is a big year for SPACE as the Evanston, IL-based live music hall and recording studio is amidst celebrating its 10-year anniversary. To mark the occasion, the beloved venue is staging a slew of special concert events you surely don’t want to miss.
The highly-anticipated outdoor concert series “Out of Space” will take place throughout the summer with performances by Mavis Staples, Indigo Girls, The Lone Bellow, Dinosaur Jr., The New Pornographers, Shovels & Rope, Split Single, Slick Rick, Rebirth Brass Band, Marc Broussard, The Cool Kids, Lydia Loveless, Becca Mancari, Skyway Man, Purling Hiss and more (TBA).
All shows are slated to go down June, July and August at Temperance Beer Company, Canal Shores Golf Course and SPACE’s inaugural Big Evanston Block Party at the intersection of Chicago and Dempster.
SPACE opened its doors back in 2008. The site has since welcomed performances by The Lumineers, Alabama Shakes, Dr. John, Lucinda Williams, Taj Mahal, Gary Clark Jr. and comedian Todd Barry, who performed a set of stand-up there in 2015 and later dedicated a chapter of his book Thank You For Coming to Hattiesburg to the intimate 240-person capacity venue.
