Songwriter Frederick Mosher and keyboardist Kenn Goodman are showcasing their love of smooth, melodic 1970s AM radio, pop-rock stylings with their band The Imperial Sound. The group’s debut album The New AM – full of fresh takes on shuffling rhythms and throwback grooves – is set to drop via Pravda Records on Aug. 31.
In honor of this momentous occasion, The Imperial Sound will be celebrating with an album release party at everyone’s favorite Chicago neighborhood bar, The Hideout, on Sept. 1. The band – comprised of Mosher, Goodman, Matt “Sal” Favazza, Gary Schepers, David Winer, David Smith and Tyler Brown – will be joined by featured guests Kelly Hogan, Peter Himmelman, Nora O’Conner and more for this special performance.
Though The New AM is the group’s debut release, Mosher and Goodman have an impressive shared history with The Service, New Duncan Imperials and Pravda Records. The Imperial Sound gives the longtime friends and frequent collaborators a platform to share the magic of horn-heavy arrangements, beautiful harmonies and classic rock sounds that intersect past, present and future.
