The D is back to save the world – or what’s left of it – with a pair of new projects entitled Post-Apocalypto.
First up is an original, six-part animated series that finds Tenacious D – Jack Black and Kyle Gass – saving humanity from unearthed evils that have emerged as a result of an atomic bomb drop. Space adventure, a time machine and a trip to the White House are among the plot twists that Black and Gass encounter throughout the show.
The first episode of Post-Apocalypto will premiere on the duo’s YouTube page on Sept. 28 and a new edition will drop each Friday. Black hand-drew each frame of the series and he and Gass voice all of the characters, as well.
New Tenacious D songs will be featured in the six-episode series in anticipation of the album’s release on Nov. 2. Dave Grohl will once again be featured on the album which is produced by John Spiker.
Tenacious D is also touring across the country this fall and will be stopping by Chicago for a pair of sold-out shows at the Riviera Theatre in November. Check out the teaser for the animated series below and click here to pre-order Post-Apocalypto digitally or via the official Tenacious D store.
