A new stand-up special is in the works from comedian David Cross. The forthcoming one-hour, Oh, Come On, will debut on May 10, 2019.
The special, named after Cross’ world tour, was recorded at the Orange Peel in Asheville, NC back in August. A second entirely different set was recorded for the album in Birmingham, AL in November. In the special, Cross will tackle a range of topics — everything from romantic dates at the colonic spa with his wife to explaining to his daughter the unfiltered truth of growing up in America to examining why Trump supporters still find ways to support him.
“Man I had such a great time on this tour and the Asheville show in particular was a lot of fun. I think this set might be the tightest and most fluid one I’ve done yet,” Cross said in a recent statement. “Whether that is a result of all the colloidal silver I’ve been ingesting or just the ‘Learn How to Do Stand-Up’ online courses I’ve been taking, either way I think you’ll enjoy this special. If you’re a fan that is. If you are predisposed to hating me then you probably won’t like it very much.”
Cross last toured the world with Make America Great Again!, which later spawned a 2016 Netflix special and Grammy-nominated album of the same name. He more recently appeared in the Amazon drama Goliath and Season 5 of the Netflix comedy Arrested Development.
Cross is bucking the current comedy special release trend with services like Netflix, HBO and Comedy Central, opting instead for a self-release of his new one-hour through Comedy Dynamics. Likewise, Oh, Come On will premiere on multiple platforms including iTunes, Amazon, Xbox and Google Play. Those who would like to see the special on the big screen will also have the chance as the special is also doing a 10-city theatrical run.
