The news arrived earlier this week that Sebastian Maniscalco & John Mulaney will be headlining the 2019 rendition of Lucille Ball Comedy Festival. The pair will perform at the Northwest Arena, adjacent to the National Comedy Center during the fest, which takes place Aug. 7-11 in Jamestown, NY.
Mulaney, who released the Emmy-winning Kid Gorgeous on Netflix last year, is slated to perform on Friday, Aug. 9, while Maniscalco, just off the release of his new Netflix special Stay Hungry, will take the stage on Saturday, Aug. 10. This year’s Lucille Ball Comedy Festival will also host five additional comedy showcases, Late Night Comedy events, National Comedy Center Dialogues and Lucy legacy events, all of which will be announced in the coming months.
“This festival is a celebration of all things comedy” said the National Comedy Center’s Malachi Livermore. “It offers something for everyone — from a free kids’ comedy show and a series of discussions about the comedic arts, to some of the best stand-up comedians that the nation has to offer, and the opening of an Ernie Kovacs Centennial exhibit featuring never-before-seen archives. And there is still more to come.”
The Lucille Ball Comedy Festival is presented by the National Comedy Center, a non-profit cultural institution celebrating the art of comedy. The festival attracts over 15,000 attendees annually, offering ticket-holders the opportunity to see some of their favorite comedians in one of the many venues of Jamestown, including the National Comedy Center and the Lucille Ball Desi Arnaz Museum.
Last year’s Lucille Ball Comedy Festival saw performances from Amy Schumer, Lily Tomlin and a panel including Saturday Night Live’s Dan Aykroyd, Laraine Newman and Alan Zweibel. Jerry Seinfeld, Ellen DeGeneres, Trevor Noah, Jim Gaffigan, Paula Poundstone, Brian Regan, Lewis Black, Jay Leno, W. Kamau Bell, Joan Rivers and more have appeared since the festival’s inception almost 30 years ago.
Pre-sale tickets for Maniscalso and Mulaney will be available for National Comedy Center members beginning Wednesday, Feb. 20 at noon ET while general public tickets will go on sale the following Friday, Feb. 22 at noon ET.
