Eric Clapton has just announced his Crossroads Guitar Festival will make a long-awaited return this year. The 2019 event will take place Sept. 20-21 at American Airlines Center in Dallas, TX and will feature Derek Trucks, Jeff Beck and Gary Clark Jr., among others.
As with previous renditions, the fifth installment of Crossroads Guitar Festival promises a guitar-centric event with dozens of performances, impromptu collaborations and surprise guest appearances from some of the world’s most respected and admired guitarists. Among the other performers to appear at the 2019 festival are Robert Randolph, Susan Tedeschi, Billy Gibbons, Bonnie Raitt, Buddy Guy Band, Joe Walsh, Keb Mo, Jonny Lang, Jimmie Vaughan, Los Lobos, Peter Frampton, Robert Cray, Sheryl Crow and Vince Gill.
The last Crossroads Guitar Festival took place in New York City back in 2013, following two unforgettable appearances in Chicago (2007 and 2010). 2019 not only marks the first Crossroads in six long years, it also represents a return to the city it calls home, as the inaugural event was held in Dallas in 2004. Notably, the sold-out show was later released on DVD and has since gone on to become one of the world’s top-selling music DVDs of all time.
The Crossroads Guitar Festival was created by Clapton to provide a platform for the guitarist and his friends to play together while also helping out others in need. Likewise, all profits from the fest go to the Crossroads Centre in Antigua, benefitting those suffering from drug and alcohol addiction.
Crossroads Guitar Festival 2019 will offer ticket holders two different nights of music. Each night will feature select artists from the lineup, though fans can rest assured as Clapton is slated to perform sets on both nights.
Tickets for Crossroads Guitar Festival go on sale Friday, April 5 at 10 a.m. CT. Visit http://www.crossroadsguitarfestival.com for the complete lineup and to purchase tickets.
