Herbie Hancock & Kamasi Washington are venturing out on tour together this summer. The jazz greats will hit the road this July, kicking off a co-headlining North American tour, which will consist of 10 dates.
Washington & Hancock will begin with a show at Vienna, Virginia’s Wolf Trap on July 30. The duo are both slated to perform at the Newport Jazz Festival, prior to making stops in Philadelphia, Toronto & Detroit. They have a tentative Chicago date in August, followed by stops in Denver, Seattle and Portland, and will close things out later in the month with a show at The Greek Theatre in Berkeley, CA.
Washington released Heaven and Earth and The Choice to critical acclaim back in 2018 followed by his short film As Told To G/D Thyself, which debuted at Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. According to NPR, Hancock’s next album-in-progress will feature Washington along with Terrace Martin, Flying Lotus and rapper Kendrick Lamar.
Tickets for Hancock and Washington’s co-headlining tour go on sale to the general public this Friday, April 12.
