Riot Fest 2019 is only weeks away! That said, festival organizers have just released the daily set times and schedules, giving ticket-holders a heads up on the “who,” “when” and “wheres” of this year’s event, which goes down Sept. 13-15.
Helping attendees conquer the festival grounds this year is Goose Island. The Chi-town brewery has partnered with the Douglas Park music festival to create Riot Fest Sucks Pale Ale, which will feature a never-before-seen label design that pulls out to show the day’s hourly schedule, detailing each band’s respective set time and stage location.
And, though, it's safe to say sipping a beer while also keeping tabs on your favorite must-see bands at Riot Fest has never been this convenient, navigating the festival's many artist conflicts is likely to be as difficult as always.
Friday (Sept. 13) will see some overlap between Violent Femmes (performing on the Roots stage from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.) and Pennywise (6:10 p.m. to 7:10 p.m.) with a later, more direct conflict between The Flaming Lips and Rancid sets with Descendents further complicating things. Headliners Blink-182, performing Enima of the State, are also slated to square off against Riot Fest veterans Jawbreaker.
While there aren't as many conflicts on Saturday (Sept. 14), Riot Fest staple and party god Andrew W.K. is scheduled directly against hip hop legends Wu-Tang Clan, with overlap from Manchester Orchestra and Chicago's own Rise Against. Slayer, performing their final midwest show on the festival's Riot Stage, is also paired against Bloc Party, who will be performing their album Silent Alarm in its entirety on the Rise Stage.
Sunday (Sept. 15) at Riot Fest, arguably the most stacked day, will present festies with some of the most difficult decisions of the weekend. The Beaches (performing at 2:25 p.m. on the Riot Stage) will overlap with disco kitch group Village People (2:35 p.m. on the Radicals Stage), who will overlap with ska punk Floridians Less Than Jake (3:00 p.m. - Rise Stage). Ween (6:45 p.m. - Radicals Stage), performing Mollusk in full, will later cut into Patti Smith and Her Band (6:20 p.m. - Riot Stage), while also overlapping with Taking Back Sunday (8:15 p.m. - Rise Stage) and headliners Bikini Kill (8:30 p.m. - Riot Stage).
