Punk icon Iggy Pop has just released his 18th studio album, Free. Stream the album in its entirety below.

Pop’s latest debuted on digital platforms today (Sept. 6) and features contributions by Noveller and Leron Thomas. The LP clocks in at just under 34 minutes and is made up of 10 tracks, three of which — “James Bond,” “Sonali” and the album’s title track “Free” — were released earlier this summer as singles.

Free was released by Loma Vista Recordings and is the artist’s first new record since 2016’s Post Pop Depression. While it follows Pop’s highest career-charting album, reps for the artist have been quoted as saying, “Free has virtually nothing in common sonically with its predecessor—or with any other Iggy Pop album.”

Pop shared a few words on the new LP in a statement earlier this year:

“This is an album in which other artists speak for me, but I lend my voice… By the end of the tours following Post Pop Depression, I felt sure that I had rid myself of the problem of chronic insecurity that had dogged my life and career for too long. But I also felt drained. And I felt like I wanted to put on shades, turn my back, and walk away.

I wanted to be free.

I know that’s an illusion, and that freedom is only something you feel, but I have lived my life thus far in the belief that that feeling is all that is worth pursuing; all that you need – not happiness or love necessarily, but the feeling of being free. So this album just kind of happened to me, and I let it happen.”

Pop will talk about Free in a conversation with director Jim Jarmusch in New York City on Sept. 11. Pick up tickets to that event here.
