Back in 1985, the singular comedy of Paul Reubens mixed with the directorial wizardry of Tim Burton and the musical genius of Danny Elfman to create a one-of-a-kind adventure film, about a rebel and his bike, known as Pee-wee’s Big Adventure.
In honor of the 35th anniversary of the movie’s release Reubens is hitting the road for a special 20-city tour in 2020 which kicks off on Feb. 14 in Portland and will make stops in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York and more cities. The Chicago Theatre in Chicago will host the Pee-wee’s Big Adventure 35th Anniversary Tour with Paul Reubens on March 20.
Each event includes a screening of the film followed by a story-telling segment – about the making of Pee-wee’s Big Adventure – by Reubens. Following the success of the film, Reubens went on to create and star in Pee-wee’s Playhouse, which earned 22 Emmy Awards throughout its five year run.
Tickets for the Pee-wee’s Big Adventure 35th Anniversary Tour with Paul Reubens, produced by Live Nation, go on sale to the general public on Friday, December 13 at 10 a.m. local time. VIP packages – which feature a secret gift, photo op and signed print – will be available at three levels.
