The Topic streaming service is partnering with The Second City to share The Second City Presents: The Last Show Left on Earth, a half-hour sketch and variety limited series.
The first episode – featuring host Jack McBrayer and musical guest Jeff Tweedy – will premiere on The Second City’s and Topic’s social channels on Thursday, April 16 at 9 p.m. ET. It will then air exclusively on Topic beginning April 22. Episodes will continue to air weekly for four weeks and each episode will be available to watch after the fact on Topic.
Second City alumni and famous friends will be featured throughout the series as will rare Second City footage from the vaults.
“Following in the footsteps of SCTV, this partnership with Topic is allowing The Second City to once again do what it’s done best for over 60 years: create irreverent, thought-provoking comedy under minimalist conditions. Producing a show entirely remotely is something Second City was born to do,” said CEO and Executive Producer of The Second City Andrew Alexander in a statement.
Christina Anthony and Valerie June will be featured in episode two and Edgar Blackmon, John Hartman, London Hughes and many more will appear in the series. Andrew Bird is composing and performing an original theme song for the show as well.
