In the midst of worldwide protests and the pandemic lock-down, comedian Nore Davis was compelled to capture this unprecedented moment in time with a brand new comedy album, Live from the Comedy Trap House.
The album – written and recorded on May 29, 2020 on Zoom – will be released on July 3, 2020 via Blonde Medicine. Inspired by the desire to save his mental and physical health, while also sharing a bit of joy with fans, Davis expresses his thoughts on the state of the world, America’s social climate, human rights and more throughout the set.
“I hope this album gives people permission to laugh and reminds them how we got to this point,” said Davis in a statement. “We went from a killer pandemic, locked away in quarantine like inmates to witnessing black people being murdered by the police and rising up against it, all in three months! So just like white people who are always conquering something, I declare July 3rd My Independence Day. On this day, we will be reminded to laugh and allow ourselves to experience joy for 51 minutes. Once you finish the album, let’s get back to work by continuing the fight to destroy racism in our own country! Love, Laugh and Live.”
Live from the Comedy Trap House is Davis’ fourth full-length comedy album. His Comedy Central Half Hour premiered in 2019 and he has appeared on Conan, 2 Dope Queens and HBO’s Succession. The Comedy Trap House was founded by Davis at the onset of the pandemic lock-down as a recurring Zoom stand-up show where friends, fans and comedians can connect.
