The Chicago Independent Venue League (CIVL) and The Giving Back Fund have partnered to launch the CIVL SAVE (Staff, Artists and Venues) Emergency Relief Fun. The goal is to provide grants to Chicago venues, their staff and local artists while COVID-19 shut-downs have halted live events.
In support of CIVL SAVE Emergency Relief Fund, CIVLization – a virtual live music series – will kick-off on Friday, November 27. Beats y Bateria, ESSO, Dos Santos, Xoe Wise and Half Gringa are among the artists slated to perform. The Hideout, Lincoln Hall, Sleeping Village and more CIVL member venues are set to host while Audiotree will film and produce each performance.
“The people who welcome concert-goers into Chicago’s independent venues and the artists who play their stages are as treasured as the venues themselves,” said Tim Tuten, co-owner of The Hideout and founding board member of Chicago Independent Venue League. “Live music fans have shown overwhelming support during the shutdown and have expressed a desire to do more. The CIVL SAVE Emergency Relief Fund allows them to support Chicago’s entire music community.”
The City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events and Goose Island Beer Company are supporting CIVLization.
