Nick Cave and Warren Ellis were busy during the lockdown as the pair composed and recorded a new album, Carnage. The release is currently available to stream everywhere and vinyl and CD formats will drop on May 28.
The duo has, of course, collaborated in the past with The Bad Seeds as well as on many soundtracks, but Carnage marks the first time they have ever released an album of songs as a duo.
“Making Carnage was an accelerated process of intense creativity,” said Ellis in a statement. “The eight songs were there in one form or another within the first two and a half days.”
Cave describes the work as “a brutal but very beautiful record nested in a communal catastrophe.”
