Chicago bluesman Bob Stoger has teamed up with Brazil’s The Headcutters to release the new album, That’s My Name, via Delmark Records, on Feb. 18.
Stoger has previously performed on over 30 Delmark albums and, at 92 years-old, he is making his solo album debut with the label.
That’s My Name was produced by Stroger and the Headcutters in Brazil in 2019 and 2020. It contains five original tracks as well as versions of tunes by Big Big Broonzy, Ma Rainey, Eddie Taylor and more.
In the late-1970s, Stoger toured with Otis Rush and appeared on his Live in Europe and Lost in the Blues releases. He also worked with Sunnyland Slim, Willie “Big Eyes” Smith and others as a session musician. The Headcutters have been building a blues scene in Itajaí in the state of Santa Catarina. They have backed such artists as Billy Branch, Kim Wilson and Mud Morganfield.
