With performers including The National, Mitski, The Roots, Japanese Breakfast, Spiritualized, Dawn Richard, Earl Sweatshirt and many more, this year’s Pitchfork Music Festival is offering three-days of sure-to-be incredible musical moments. On top of what’s happening on stage at Union Park in Chicago on July 15-17, this year’s event also includes several additional activities for attendees to enjoy.
Whether you are looking for more records to add to your collection or seeking somewhere to have fun with the kids, here’s a look at some of the non-performance activities taking place at Pitchfork 2022.
CHIRP Record Fair
The CHIRP Record Fair is always a popular stop at Pitchfork Music Festival and this year is no different. The vinyl mecca – hosted by The Chicago Independent Radio Project (CHIRP) – features table upon table of records from indie labels, local record stores and independent dealers. There’s often additional merch like t-shirts and pins so be sure to add a stop to your daily schedule.
Renegade Craft Fair
If you love unique, handmade items from independent artisans, the Renegade Craft Fair is the place for you. This pop-up shop is set to sell buttons, jewelry, artwork, clothing and much more.
Flatstock Poster Fair
Amazing artwork is in ample supply at the Flatstock Poster Fair. The American Poster Institute and Speedball are hosting this year’s exhibition which is expected to have a large selection of concert posters among other offerings.
Music House Kids Zone
Pitchfork is also for the kids. The Music House Kids Zone gives little concert-goers a place to rest, relax and jam on a variety of musical instruments. They also have the chance to add to a collaborative mural. The entire Kids Zone area is hosted by Music House, a family-run performing arts school with locations and partnerships across the city.
