When you hear about a band doing an acoustic tour, you picture mellow music framed between stories about songwriting. New Found Glory’s Make The Most Of It Acoustic Tour – which stopped by a sold-out Thalia Hall in Chicago on March 11 – is so much more. It’s a celebration of over two decades of incredible music, unbreakable bonds, and thriving in the face of unexpected trials and tribulations.
The tour follows the release of the band’s latest album, Make The Most Of It, which features seven brand new tracks, written following the news of guitarist Chad Gilbert’s cancer diagnosis, and seven acoustic versions of classic New Found Glory songs. These special live shows are a chance for the band and fans to connect on a new, even deeper, level and truly appreciate the joy of coming together in song.
During the Saturday night concert, fans sang along at the top of their lungs to new and old favorites like “Get Me Home,” “Hit or Miss,” and “Understatement” at the start of the performance. “Mouth to Mouth,” “The Story So Far,” and many more songs also appeared on the evening’s setlist.
Four Year Strong’s Dan O’Connor was on hand to play guitar as he is joining the tour while Gilbert – who appears on whichever dates he can – receives treatment and recovers. Leanna Firestone was also on the bill performing her relatable and catchy songs about love and “#devastating break-ups.”
